Abuse, harassment, violence

Sexual violence occurs in many different forms and contexts. It not only includes criminal offenses such as rape (in marriage), sexual abuse in childhood, sexual assault and sexual harassment, but also any situation in which girls or women face a threat of sexual violence, sexist stereotyping and male-normalized sexualisation.

Not only due to the serious psychological, health and social consequences, is sexual violence a significant social problem. Psychological and psychosomatic consequences have a strong impact on family and social relationship structures, employment conditions, biographical details of women's lives, and - depending on the severity of the violence - also affect subsequent generations.
